Changes in Total Commander 7.50 Beta:
- Full Unicode support in most functions where it is possible, including FTP, ZIP packer, and plugin interfaces
- Support for file names longer than 259 characters (up to 1022) in most file operations
- Compare by content allows to compare text files of different type, e.g. Ansi and UTF-8
- The current directory above the file lists can act as a clickable bar ("breadcrumb bar")
- Option to show *.bar file in button bar as a popup menu instead of switching bars
- Show icons and subfolders in ftp connection dialog
- Protect the stored ftp passwords with a master password using AES256 encryption

Có rất nhiều các phần mềm tiện ích tương tự như Total Commander, nhưng Total Commander đặc biệt hơn với hàng trăm Plugins, Tools hoàn toàn miễn phí. Với sự hỗ trợ của các Plugins thì Total Commander trở lên mạnh mẽ hơn nhiều lần, xứng đáng để sử dụng hơn tất cả.
Total Commander hỗ trợ rất tốt FTP client, một tiện ích trao đổi files nhanh chóng và tiện lợi giữa các máy tính. Cũng có thể upload files lên mạng với một số Host hỗ trợ FTP như Easy-Share chẳng hạn, chỉ cần đăng ký một tài khoản Free là có thể dễ dàng upload với User và Pass đăng nhập của tài khoản.
Total Commander là một tiện ích khá quen thuộc với nhân viên văn phòng, nhưng có lẽ không mấy ai để ý và sử dụng hiệu quả phần mềm này. Các Plugins của Total Commander bao gồm: Packer plugins (WCX), File system plugins (WFX), Content Plugins (WDX), Lister Plugins (WLX).
